Questions & Answers (Nicaea or Nice-to-see-ya) February 2013

paleo-hebrew-letters.jpgHow many bishops would form the First Counsel of Nicaea? Where they happy to see eachother? IF NOT WHY? Lets take that voyage to Bithynia in the 4th century and set the stage for what many now say would define today’s christianity. How did this historic meeting change the body of Y’Shua Messiah!!! What happened!!!

My sources advise there were 318 bishops who met at the First Council of Nicaea. Most were in agreement but not all were happy to see each other. The most persistent debate was that between the homoousian view (the Father and the Son are one and the same, eternal) and the Arian view (the Father and the Son are separate, but both divine). This controversy led to Constantine’s calling a council meeting at Nicaea in 325.

Yes, this meeting was pivotal for the future of the organized religious understanding and practice. I look forward to future discussion on this topic.

Excellent answer sister :+)

IN SEEING THE DISPARITY BETWEEN THE COUNSEL TENSIONS WERE LIKELY HIGH AND NO DIFFERENT TO WHAT WE SEE TODAY WHEN THE TOPIC OF TRINITY VS NON TRINITY SPRINGS UP… IMAGINE, EUSEBIUS (NON-TRINITARIAN DOCTRINE) IS THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN MURDERED 25 YEARS POST COUNSEL, THIS AFTER THE LATER COINED TRINITY WON OUT IN WHAT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN A POLITICALLY CHARGED VOTE WHICH LEAD IN PART TO TODAYS CHRISTIANITY… I BELIEVE THAT IN SEEKING OUT THIS AND OTHER HISTORIC EVIDENCE, SUCH AS WE DISCUSSED OVER OUR MEETING TODAY, HELPS US TO BETTER UNDERSTAND WHY IT IS BEST TO FOCUS ON PRECHURCH TEACHINGS… INDEED, YHSHUA’S WAY. IT WAS A BLESSING TO SHARE WITH SUCH A DEDICATED CHILD OF YH AND LOOK FORWARD TO MORE :+) SHALOM CHAVERIM :+) RAMS.
