Matthew 22:37-39
New King James Version (NKJV)
37 “Jesus” (YH’shua: YH is salvation) said to him, “‘You shall love “the Lord” (YHWH: the Name, Word and Works, of Elohim) your “God” (Elohim: Magistrates, Great, Mighty Ones, etc..) with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and great commandment (“the Love of YHWH”). 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ [e]
YH’shua often defended the Father’s Ten Commandments. Here we get a glimpse of Pharisees trying to trick Messiah; teaching against the commandments would have been akin to heresy – in some instances, a death sentence. Knowing the Word of the Father, Rabbi, YH’shua surprises them by compartmentalizing, into two quotes, the ten commandments; “the First and Second Great Commandments”, which met approval! (See: 1 John 5:3)
First (4): “You shall love YHWH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”
-
You shall not follow other “gods” (elohim) before “Me” (the Elohim of Abraham).
-
You shall not make idols of Me.
-
You shall not take “the name of the Lord” (YHWH: the Name that expresses the Word and Works of Elohim) your “God” (Elohim: Magistrates, Great, Mighty Ones, etc..) in “vain” (reyqam: emptily, undeservedly, etc..).
-
Remember “the Sabbath day” (YHWH’s day of rest), to keep it “holy” (qodesh: consecrated, dedicated, etc..).
Second (6): “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
-
Honor your father and your mother.
-
You shall not murder.
-
You shall not commit adultery.
-
You shall not steal.
-
You shall not bear false witness.
-
You shall not covet your neighbors wife or property.
Always in YH’shua’s example (lead)! Amein and Amein :)
